Samsung Expands 3D Gaming Ecosystem With Odyssey

Samsung Electronics showcased the future of immersive gaming at GDC 2026 in San Francisco, highlighting its expanding ecosystem around the Odyssey 3D gaming monitor. The company demonstrated how glasses-free 3D technology and HDR10+ GAMING are evolving beyond experimental features into real-world gaming experiences supported by major studios and popular titles. Through collaborations with leading developers, Samsung aims to redefine how players interact with digital worlds.

Glasses-Free 3D Gaming Moves Toward the Mainstream

The centerpiece of the showcase was the Odyssey 3D monitor, designed to deliver immersive gameplay without the need for special glasses. Using a combination of Eye Tracking and View Mapping technologies, the display dynamically adjusts 3D depth based on the user’s viewing position. This allows the scene to maintain natural depth perception even during fast-paced gameplay sequences.

Unlike earlier attempts at consumer 3D displays, the system avoids many traditional drawbacks such as heavy glasses or visual fatigue. The monitor’s 165Hz refresh rate and 1ms GtG response time ensure that motion remains smooth and responsive while maintaining stable 3D depth rendering. The result is a gaming experience where action appears to extend beyond the screen.

Expanding the 3D Gaming Ecosystem

Samsung is also expanding its 3D gaming library, which currently supports more than 60 compatible titles. By the end of 2026, the company expects this ecosystem to grow to over 120 supported games. The expansion is driven by partnerships with studios that are integrating the technology directly into their game engines.

Among the first major additions for 2026 are Hell Is Us, an action-adventure horror title developed by Rogue Factor, and Cronos: The New Dawn, a survival horror experience from Bloober Team. Both games will support 3D gameplay through the Odyssey 3D Hub platform, which acts as a centralized hub for compatible content.

HDR10+ GAMING Enhances Visual Performance

Beyond 3D immersion, Samsung is continuing to develop HDR10+ GAMING, a display technology that dynamically analyzes each frame of gameplay. This system optimizes brightness, contrast, and color in real time to produce a more vivid and detailed image.

The technology has already been integrated into Odyssey monitors and Samsung gaming TVs since 2022, particularly in models capable of refresh rates above 120Hz. With HDR10+ GAMING, developers can deliver scene-by-scene HDR adjustments that enhance realism while maintaining consistent performance.

Partnerships With Major Game Studios

To accelerate adoption, Samsung is collaborating with several major game developers. The company has partnered with CD PROJEKT RED to integrate HDR10+ GAMING support into the widely known title Cyberpunk 2077, showcasing how advanced display technologies can enhance cinematic game worlds.

Another partnership involves Pearl Abyss, whose upcoming open-world action-adventure game Crimson Desert will feature HDR10+ GAMING support at launch. According to Samsung Electronics, these collaborations help strengthen its role as a technology partner within the gaming ecosystem while pushing the boundaries of immersive display experiences.

Alongside these announcements, Samsung Electronics demonstrated its full Odyssey gaming lineup at GDC 2026, including the Odyssey 3D monitor, OLED-based Odyssey G8 models, and high-refresh-rate displays designed for esports-level performance. The company expects glasses-free 3D gaming and HDR10+ GAMING to become increasingly common as more titles join the ecosystem, with wider availability of compatible hardware expected throughout 2026.
