tonies is expanding its screen-free audio lineup with the Toniebox Lite, a smaller and lighter player designed for children aged one and older. The new device retains the company’s familiar character-based listening system while lowering the entry price for families interested in screen-free entertainment.
A More Portable Toniebox Experience
Toniebox Lite delivers the core experience that made the original platform popular: children place a Tonie character on top of the player to begin listening. Its compact and lightweight body should make it easier to carry between rooms, take on family trips, or leave at a grandparent’s home. The controls remain intentionally simple, allowing young children to operate the player with minimal adult assistance.
Despite its smaller format, the device works with every Tonie released. That provides access to a catalog of more than 1,500 physical Tonies and over 3,500 digital titles, including stories, educational programs, songs, and original productions. The library also includes licensed content from partners such as Disney, Marvel, Mattel, Paramount, Hasbro, and Warner Bros.
Parental Controls Through the Tonies App
Parents can manage Toniebox Lite through the companion tonies app. Available controls include adjusting playback, setting volume limits, and accessing compatible digital content. This connected management layer gives adults control over the listening environment without placing a screen directly in front of the child.
The player is certified for children aged one and older, positioning it as an introductory audio device for toddlers as well as older kids. Colorful protective covers will also be available at launch, allowing families to personalize the player while adding extra cushioning for everyday handling and travel.
Toniebox Lite vs Toniebox 2
Toniebox Lite is not intended to replace Toniebox 2. Instead, it focuses on the essential listening features in a more portable and affordable package. Toniebox 2 remains the flagship model with Tonieplay gaming, a dynamic light ring, and additional tools for family routines.
Those enhanced features include a sleep timer, sunrise alarm, and bedtime mode. Toniebox Lite skips those extras and concentrates on straightforward audio playback. This makes the Lite model suitable as a family’s first Toniebox, a secondary unit for another room, or a travel-friendly companion for existing users.
The two devices run on the same content platform, so families do not need to build separate libraries for each player. A Tonie used with the flagship model can also work with Toniebox Lite, giving the ecosystem a useful level of cross-device compatibility.
A Broader Audio Ecosystem for Children
The release represents a shift toward a multi-device ecosystem rather than a lineup centered on a single audio player. Alongside its hardware, the company continues to expand with My First Tonies, Tonieplay games, original productions, and partnerships with children’s brands including Bluey and Pokemon.
Toniebox Lite is priced at $79.99 USD in the United States and $99.99 CAD in Canada. North American pre-orders opened on July 27, 2026, with deliveries and Walmart in-store availability beginning August 22. More retail channels will follow through September and October, while the UK, Australia, and New Zealand are scheduled to receive the device in fall 2026. With this launch, tonies offers families a lower-cost route into its growing audio ecosystem without changing the platform’s familiar listening format.
