Here is the world’s first diesel-electric hybrid car, Peugeot 3008 HYbrid4. This new car is using the HYbrid4 system. Some said that the HYbrid4 system is more clever technology compared to what installed on Toyota Prius or Honda CR-Z. It’s a reasonable thinking, because HYbrid4 system bolts on to the existing architecture of the rear axle.
Interestingly, the Peugeot Citroen promises by 2014, they will offer a new plug-in hybrid engine which will use lithium ion batteries as an option. The Li-Ion batteries will deliver a greener and more efficient than nickel metal hybrid cells to Peugeot 3008 HYbrid4. However, the right now HYbrid4 system already boasts a good performance. Its 163bhp 2.0-litre HDI regenerates 200 horsepower and torque of 369 pf. And it only produces 74.4mpg and 99g/km of CO2.
