Sony unveiled two internal Blu-Ray Disc rewritable drives, BD-5300S and BWU-500S that using a Serial ATA (SATA) interface and standart 5.25-inch form-factor for easy installation to a desktop PC.
Both of optical drives perform to write single BD-R media at up to 12X and dual layer BD-R media at up to 8X speeds, recording a full 25GB disc in about 10 minutes. It’s one step forward, the next generation in burner drive technology, making them suit as the replacement of standard DVD drive in the same time providing you all the benefits of Blu-ray Disc technology.
Both Sony BD-5300S and BWU-500S optical drives will be available this month. Well, in-box of the BWU-500S you will also receive a powerful software: Cyberlink’s Media Suite 8 and a bonus (one 25GB Sony BD-R blank disc). Can anyone tell me how much Sony will set their pricing? [Dandy Gadget Source]
