BenQ RD280UG Targets Coders With 4K+ 120Hz Clarity

BenQ Launches the RD280UG

BenQ has officially introduced the RD280UG, a flagship programming monitor designed for developers who spend long hours staring at code. Building on the philosophy of “See Clearly, Code Perfectly,” BenQ positions the RD280UG as a purpose-built display that prioritizes text clarity, eye comfort, and workflow efficiency rather than gaming-centric gimmicks.

The RD280UG continues the evolution of BenQ’s RD Series, the world’s first monitor lineup created specifically for programmers. With a 28-inch panel, a 4K+ resolution, and a 3:2 aspect ratio, the monitor is clearly aimed at professionals who need more vertical space and sharper text rendering for modern development environments.

Designed Around How Developers Read Code

One of the defining elements of the RD280UG is its Nano Matte panel, which reduces reflections and glare in brightly lit offices or home workspaces. Combined with BenQ’s exclusive Coding Modes, the display is tuned to improve text contrast and legibility across different IDE themes.

Developers can switch between Dark Theme, Light Theme, and Paper Color Mode depending on their working conditions. Each mode adjusts contrast, brightness, and color balance to reduce eye fatigue while keeping characters crisp, making extended debugging and code review sessions less taxing.

Smooth Scrolling and Better Visual Flow

The RD280UG stands out by offering a 120Hz refresh rate, a feature rarely seen on productivity-focused monitors. This higher refresh rate delivers noticeably smoother scrolling through long files and documentation, reducing motion blur and helping the eyes track content more comfortably.

Beyond coding, the 120Hz panel also benefits everyday productivity tasks and casual gaming, making the monitor more versatile outside of work hours. A 2000:1 contrast ratio, enhanced by local contrast technologies, further improves text sharpness and shadow detail.

Workspace Efficiency With Single-Cable Connectivity

For streamlined desk setups, the RD280UG includes USB-C connectivity with up to 90W Power Delivery. This allows a single cable to handle display output, data transfer, and laptop charging, reducing clutter and setup complexity.

The monitor also integrates a built-in KVM switch, enabling developers to control two systems with one keyboard and mouse. This is particularly useful for those working across multiple machines or operating systems throughout the day.

Eye Comfort and Ergonomic Flexibility

Long working sessions are supported by BenQ’s eye-care technologies, including MoonHalo bias lighting and Night Hours Protection, which help reduce eye strain during late-night coding. Automatic brightness and color temperature adjustments further adapt the display to changing ambient light.

The stand supports height, tilt, swivel, and full ±90-degree rotation with auto pivot, making portrait mode easy for reading long code files. Display Pilot 2 software provides cross-platform support on macOS, Windows, and Linux, allowing quick adjust
