SlateSafety is bringing environmental sensing and lone worker alerts together in the BEACON V3, a connected device that can be worn by personnel or mounted at industrial sites. Announced on September 14, 2026, it combines thermal measurements, noise exposure tracking, and emergency features without requiring workers to carry personal phones.

The interesting part is that combination: one device covers several monitoring tasks that safety teams need to interpret together. However, the announcement does not detail changes from earlier BEACON models, so its name alone is not enough to establish specific generational improvements.

Thermal Data Close to the Work

The BEACON V3 reports air temperature, relative humidity, air pressure, and dew point, alongside Heat Index, Humidex, and estimated Wet Bulb Globe Temperature (eWBGT). These provide several ways to describe local environmental conditions instead of relying on temperature alone.

Wearable and mounted deployment offer different perspectives. A worn unit can accompany personnel through different work areas, while a mounted device monitors its installation location. That flexibility could help teams understand where conditions differ across a site.

One detail deserves attention: SlateSafety explicitly describes WBGT as estimated. The release does not explain the estimation method or publish accuracy figures, leaving buyers without enough information to assess that measurement against their particular monitoring requirements.

Noise Monitoring Beyond a Single Reading

Noise features include Sound Pressure Level, configurable A, C, or Z weightings, and Fast or Slow response settings. The device also tracks Leq, Dose, Projected Dose, Time Weighted Average (TWA), and Projected TWA.

The practical distinction is between observing noise at a moment and following exposure over time. For personnel moving among tasks, the exposure metrics offer a broader picture than an isolated reading. Projected values add a forward-looking view, but should be understood as projections rather than completed exposure measurements.

The announcement does not specify noise measurement range, accuracy, calibration procedures, or applicable certifications. Those omissions limit how thoroughly potential buyers can evaluate it for a particular industrial noise monitoring program.

Emergency Alerts for Isolated Personnel

The lone worker features include an SOS/panic button, automated impact and fall detection, and no movement alerts. This combines a manual way to request assistance with automated triggers intended to flag situations when a worker may be unable to press the button.

Location support uses GPS outdoors and coarse positioning indoors. That wording matters: the release does not promise precise room-level indoor tracking. It also leaves detection performance and alert delivery timing unspecified, so the feature list alone cannot establish how reliably every incident would be identified.

Connected Monitoring Without a Personal Phone

Connectivity includes BLE, WiFi, and cellular, with configurable transmission rates and alert thresholds. Integration with the BAND V2 physiological monitor adds personal monitoring data alongside environmental exposure information within the company’s ecosystem.

For industrial safety teams, the appeal is consolidated visibility and deployment flexibility. Battery life, dimensions, ingress protection, and service costs remain undisclosed in the release. SlateSafety says the BEACON V3 is available for site deployment, but has not provided pricing in the announcement.
