GETPOWERPAD 3 Wireless Charger Review

It’s been five months – five months! – since GETPOWERPAD announced it was getting into wireless charging game. The GETPOWERPAD online shop has been on screen for months, and until last month we were thrilled to see that the device is finally in stock and ready to ship to new customers! The company already had a head start selling the GETPOWERPAD 3 in the Netherlands. Now, we could easily roll our eyes at how inexorable the wireless charging trend is going to be. The brand has won Innovation Award in the Netherlands two weeks after the sale started.

Design and appearance
First impression is important, and GETPOWERPAD 3 doesn’t disappoint. Both the device and its packaging have a premium look and feel, which makes sense considering how much going wireless the GETPOWERPAD 3 way costs. A box covered in product photos and brand logo, with the backside of SPEC in 7 languages — the business starts very international. Inside the magic box, we found a neoprene travel sleeve, a microfiber cleaning cloth besides the product.
The company says GETPOWERPAD 3 is proud for it’s “sleek and industrial” design. And it does impressed with us that the device actually fit the Apple style perfectly. The charge pad is ultra light, with 3 hotspots to connect devices.

Ease of use
GETPOWERPAD 3 is incredibly easy to use. You don’t need to install any software, though it’s compatible with iPhone3Gs and iPhone 4. All you need to do is to connect the charge pad with electricity, and “case up” your iPhones. Touching your iPhone with charge pad, the energy starts to be transferred. The magnetic field induces a voltage in the receiver and gives power to the mobile device.
We did have some troubles using one hand to remove the iPhone 4 case. So, we decided to leave the receiver case as a protecter for iPhones.

User Experience
We use the GETPOWERPAD 3 in our office, and must say it does save our office from uncountable potential fights. All guys in our office use iPhone besides one free rider with HTC. It was always Johnny walk away for a while, come back with the fact that the connection dock taken by Micheal.
It generally needs 4 hours to charge iPhone from 10% to 100% battery.

Wrap-up
You may argue that a receiver case defeats the purpose of “wireless”. However, the Wireless Power Consortium (WPC) is pushing biggest mobile producers, such as Apple, to install the receiver chip inside the phones. So, you probably know, Sharp had already released a wireless charging phone last month, there will be more coming. Overall, apart from the need of receiver case- the limitation of mobile phone hardware that will be solve soon. GETPOWERPAD 3 presents a leading trend of future charging method. So, for folks reluctant to trade in their high-end devices for a wireless charging set, or having more than one mobile device, the GETPOWERPAD 3 will be just perfect.

THE GOOD : makes wired charging wireless, compact and lightweight, allowed to charge up to 3 devices in the same time
