Situations such as entering or leaving tunnels, driving at night, or dealing with bright headlights are particularly challenging for small automotive cameras because both highlights and darker areas need to remain usable in the same frame.

AKEEYO says its IMX678 sensor is sourced through authorized channels and that Sony has provided written confirmation of the component used in the camera. That documentation is noteworthy in a dash cam market where sensor model numbers can be an important purchasing criterion but are not always independently documented.
